Entry: systematic sampling
URI: https://data.geoscience.earth/ncl/ISO11074/4.2.34
process of taking samples from locations that have been pre-designated according to a geometric or other statistically-derived pattern. Note: Systematic sampling can include a random positioning component. Some systematic sampling patterns are regarded as “probabilistic” (see 4.2.16). This definition is wider than the usual definition found in the literature, where systematic sampling commonly means regular sampling.
