Entry: risk assessment

URI: https://data.geoscience.earth/ncl/misc/478

This overall process or method takes place in 4 stages: 1) assessment of emissions: identification and characterization of sources and emissions of pollution, hazards and risk factors that have the potential to cause harm (hazard identification), 2) assessment of issues and exposure pathways: development of a conceptual site model to analyse and evaluate the risk potential for that hazard, for example considerations of toxicity and pathways (hazard characterisation), 3) assessment of environment: evaluation of the damaging effects (level of risk) on humans and the environment, 4) prospective assessment of health risks (or prospective assessment of risks for identified receptors): determination of the likely significance (seriousness) of those risk levels (risk evaluation).
