Geochemical background, also Pedo-geochemical concentration (ISO 19258:2018): Statistical characteristic (3.8) of the pedo-geochemical concentration (3.4). Pedo-geochemical concentration of a substance in a soil resulting from natural geological and pedological processes, excluding any addition of anthropogenic origin. ISLANDR uses geochemical background in a same sense as pedo-geochemical concentration.
