de Eintrag einer Substanz aus einer nicht stationären Quelle, aus Quellen großer Ausdehnung oder aus einer Vielzahl von Quellen. Note: Derartige Quellen sind z. B. Kraftfahrzeuge, Ausbringung von Stoffen in der Landwirtschaft, Emissionen einer Stadt oder Region, Sedimentablagerungen eines Flusses bei Überflutung. Stoffeintrag aus diffusen Quellen führt meist zu mehr oder weniger gleichmäßig kontaminierten Standorten. An einigen Standorten können die Eintragsbedingungen dennoch örtlich nahe der Quelle, oder wo der Eintrag aus atmosphärischen Niederschlägen/Regen erhöht ist, höhere Einträge verursachen.
